Dr. Press runs your hearing evaluation, explains the audiogram (the chart of what you can and can't hear) in plain language, and talks through what it means for your daily life. If hearing aids make sense, he fits them himself and fine-tunes them as you settle in.
You will not be handed off between people, and follow-up care is included with every fitting.

Dr. Press earned his Doctor of Audiology at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and is licensed in Kansas. He fits Phonak, Oticon, and Widex hearing aids, with options to fit most budgets, and recommends a device based on your test results and how you spend your day.
Appointments are available in Pittsburg, Fort Scott, and Kansas City, and he works closely with ENT and medical providers when your hearing needs a second look.

Adjusting to new hearing takes time, so wear them where your life happens: at work, at the dinner table, and out around Pittsburg, Fort Scott, or Kansas City. Follow-up visits with your audiologist are included, and if they aren't right, we will adjust them, try another model, or take them back.

All visits are by appointment. For the Pittsburg or Fort Scott office, call (620) 235-5015. For the Kansas City office, call (816) 361-2300. If you would rather not call, the appointment request form on this site sends your details to the office, and someone will call you back to set a time.
The Pittsburg office is open Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Fort Scott appointments are on Mondays, and Kansas City appointments are on Wednesdays. Because Dr. Press splits his week between three offices, calling a week or two ahead gives you the widest choice of days.
The main office is at 2401 S Tucker St., Suite 3, Pittsburg, KS 66762, an easy drive for patients in Crawford County, Frontenac, Girard, and nearby Joplin. The Fort Scott office at 1621 S Main St. serves Bourbon County, along with Uniontown and Nevada, MO.
In the Kansas City metro, Dr. Press sees patients at 6675 Holmes Rd., Suite 680, inside Research Medical Center Brookside in south Kansas City. That location works well for patients coming from Grandview, Raytown, or Overland Park. If you are not sure which office is closest, mention your town when you call and the office will point you to the right one.
Dr. Press starts by asking about your hearing history, your health, and the places where listening has gotten hard, such as church, a busy restaurant, or conversation in the car. Then he tests your hearing to find out whether there is hearing loss and, if so, its type, degree, and configuration (what kind of loss it is, how much, and which pitches it affects).
You get your results before you leave, explained on your audiogram in plain language. If hearing aids could help, he will walk you through the options, and nothing is ordered at that visit unless you want it to be. Bringing a spouse or family member is a good idea, since a second set of ears helps when you talk through next steps.
Yes, we accept Medicare. Hearing aid coverage differs a lot from one plan to the next, so the simplest step is to call with your insurance card in hand. That way you know where you stand before your visit, not after.
For costs your plan does not cover, Cherry payment plans can spread the price of hearing aids over monthly payments. Phonak, Oticon, and Widex all make hearing aids at several technology levels, so there are options to fit most budgets. At the fitting, Dr. Press calibrates your hearing aids to your hearing loss and your preferences. He then shows you, and any family member who comes along, how to clean them, charge them or change the batteries, and look after them at home.
Follow-up care is included with every fitting. Many patients need a few small adjustments in the first weeks as they get used to sounds they have been missing, and those visits are part of the plan from the start. If a hearing aid stops working later on, bring it to any of the three offices and Dr. Press will troubleshoot it.
