Doctor-Fitted Hearing Aids

Three Leading Brands, Matched to Your Hearing Test

Comprehensive Hearing Solutions fits hearing aids in Pittsburg, KS, Fort Scott, and Kansas City from Phonak, Oticon, and Widex. Having three manufacturers to choose from means the recommendation starts with your hearing test, not a single product line. Dr. Jordan Press, Au.D. looks at how much hearing loss you have, where listening is hardest for you, how visible you want the devices to be, and what you're comfortable spending. There are options to fit most budgets.

Tested, Fitted, and Followed Up by One Audiologist

At this practice, the person who tests your hearing is the same Doctor of Audiology who programs your hearing aids and sees you when they need adjusting. Dr. Press has practiced audiology since 2017 and works closely with ENT and medical providers when a hearing loss needs a closer look. Follow-up care is included with every fitting, so adjustments and questions after you go home are part of the plan.

Hearing Aid FAQs

Answers to common questions about hearing aids in Pittsburg, Fort Scott, and Kansas City: the brands we fit, how a hearing aid gets chosen, cost, and care after the fitting.

Dr. Jordan Press fits Phonak, Oticon, and Widex hearing aids. All three make rechargeable models, devices that stream phone calls and TV audio over Bluetooth, and styles ranging from small in-canal aids to more powerful behind-the-ear designs.

No single brand is right for everyone. The choice comes out of your hearing evaluation and a conversation about your day: church, the tractor cab, family dinners, the phone. Having three manufacturers to work with keeps the focus on what you need to hear. Call (620) 235-5015 in Southeast Kansas or (816) 361-2300 in Kansas City to schedule a hearing aid consultation.

It starts with a diagnostic hearing evaluation. Testing shows the type, degree, and configuration of your hearing loss, which is a way of saying what kind of loss it is, how much, and which pitches it affects. Dr. Press explains the results in plain language before any device comes up.

Next comes the practical side: where you struggle to hear, whether small parts are hard for your fingers to handle, how much you want the aids to show, and your budget. From there you'll get a specific recommendation and the reasons behind it. You're welcome to bring a spouse or family member along. Start on our hearing evaluations page.

The main styles are receiver-in-canal (RIC), behind-the-ear (BTE), and custom in-the-ear and in-canal designs, including very small completely-in-canal (CIC) models. RIC aids are the most common choice today because they are light, comfortable, and come in rechargeable and Bluetooth versions.

The smallest styles aren't right for every ear or every hearing loss. Ear canal size, the degree of your loss, and how easily you can handle small parts all narrow the options. Dr. Press will show you what each style looks like and which ones suit your results. See them side by side on our hearing aid styles page.

Some plans include a hearing aid benefit and many don't, and coverage can differ a lot from one plan to the next. Before you commit to anything, our office can help you understand what your plan covers so you know your out-of-pocket cost up front.

If insurance doesn't cover the full amount, Cherry payment plans let you spread the balance into monthly payments. There are hearing aid options to fit most budgets, and Dr. Press will explain the price differences between technology levels. Read more on our financing options page or call (620) 235-5015 with your insurance questions.

Yes. New hearing aids come with a 45-day trial period. Your brain needs time to get used to sounds it hasn't heard clearly in years, and a few weeks of everyday wear tells you far more than a few minutes in the office.

During the trial, wear the aids at home, in the car, at work, and around town, and keep notes on what sounds too sharp or too soft. Dr. Press uses that feedback to adjust the programming at your follow-up visit. If the devices still aren't working for you, we'll talk about your options before the trial ends. Call (620) 235-5015 to ask about the terms.

Yes. Follow-up care is included with every fitting, and that care continues well past the first few weeks. Adjustments, troubleshooting, and in-office repairs for devices fitted here are handled by the same audiologist who fit them, so you never have to explain your history to someone new.

Most small problems, like a clogged wax guard or a worn dome, can be fixed during a short appointment. You can learn more on our hearing aid repairs page, or call (620) 235-5015 in Southeast Kansas or (816) 361-2300 in Kansas City.

Take 45 Days to Find Your Fit

Every pair of hearing aids fitted at Comprehensive Hearing Solutions comes with a 45-day trial. Adjusting to new hearing takes time, so wear them where your life happens: at work, at the dinner table, and out around Pittsburg, Fort Scott, or Kansas City. Follow-up visits with your audiologist are included, and if they aren't right, we will adjust them, try another model, or take them back.
