Your First Visit
What to Expect as a New Patient
Here is the new patient information you need before your first visit. Every appointment at Comprehensive Hearing Solutions is with Dr. Jordan Press, Au.D., the Doctor of Audiology who owns the practice. He starts by asking about your hearing and health history, then tests your hearing and explains your results in plain language before you leave. Nothing is rushed, and no one will push you to buy anything.
Intake Paperwork for Your First Visit
These are the forms you will fill out at your first visit. Downloadable versions are being finalized and will be posted here soon. Until then, please arrive about 15 minutes early and we will have everything ready when you check in.
Bring any past hearing tests, audiograms, or hearing aid paperwork you have. They show Dr. Press whether your hearing has stayed the same or changed over time, which helps him understand today's results.

New Patient FAQs
Practical answers for new patients at Comprehensive Hearing Solutions: how long the first visit takes, what to bring, whether you need a referral, and when each office is open.
Your first visit covers a hearing history, the diagnostic testing itself, and a sit-down review of your audiogram with Dr. Press in the same appointment. If hearing aids look like a good fit, there is usually time to talk through styles, technology levels, and your budget too.
Arriving about 15 minutes early to finish your intake forms keeps the appointment on time and gives you a few minutes to settle in. Since Dr. Press splits his week between Pittsburg, Fort Scott, and Kansas City, calling a week or two ahead gives you the most choice of days.
In most cases, yes. Call (620) 235-5015 for Pittsburg or Fort Scott, call (816) 361-2300 for Kansas City, or request an appointment online. Some insurance plans do require a referral before they will cover the visit, so a quick call to your plan is worth it if coverage matters to you.
If your primary care doctor or an ENT has already sent you our way, bring the referral and any recent records. Having the full picture saves time, especially when there is a medical history behind the hearing change.
Bring a photo ID, your insurance card, a list of your current medications, and any past hearing test results or audiograms you have. Your intake forms will be ready when you check in, so arriving 15 minutes early gives you time to finish them before testing starts.
It also helps to bring a spouse, an adult child, or a close friend. A familiar voice in the room makes it easier to pin down which conversations you are missing, whether that is at the dinner table, at church, or at the grandkids' ball games. They often notice things about your hearing that you may not.
Our Pittsburg office is open Tuesday and Thursday, 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Our Fort Scott office sees patients on Mondays, and our Kansas City office on Wednesdays. Every visit is by appointment, which keeps the schedule unhurried enough to test properly and explain your results.
New patient evaluations take the longer appointment slots, so booking a week or two ahead usually gets you the day you want. For Pittsburg or Fort Scott, call (620) 235-5015. For our Kansas City office on Holmes Rd., call (816) 361-2300. You can find addresses and maps for all three offices on our locations page.
Dr. Press goes over your audiogram with you before you leave, in plain language, so you understand what the results mean. If hearing aids would help, he will show you options from Phonak, Oticon, and Widex, chosen for your hearing loss, your daily routine, and your budget. If they won't help yet, he will tell you that too.
If your results point to a medical issue, you get a clear referral to the right provider. If you decide on hearing aids, your fitting includes programming to your hearing loss and time with you and your family on care and maintenance. Follow-up care is included, and it comes from the same audiologist who tested you. Call (620) 235-5015 or (816) 361-2300 with questions.
