DIAGNOSTIC AUDIOLOGY

The audiologist performs a series of tests to determine if a hearing loss exists, and, if so, the type (part of the auditory system affected), degree (how much hearing loss exists) and configuration (frequencies or pitches that are affected) of the loss.

HEARING AID SELECTION

After determining the patient's candidacy for hearing aids, the audiologist and the patient will select the most appropriate hearing aid for the patient. Selection criteria include severity of hearing loss, style and visibility of hearing aids, and budget. A wide array of options are available to fit most budgets.

HEARING AID SERVICING AND AFTER-CARE

Hearing aids often require adjustments and additional servicing after fitting. All fittings include follow-up care to address any concerns that the patient may have.

DETERMINING HEARING AID CANDIDACY

Following diagnostic audiology testing, the audiologist will work collaboratively with medical staff to assess the appropriateness and potential benefit of hearing aids. This assessment takes into account the the impact of an auditory impairment on everyday listening situations and each patient's unique circumstances.

HEARING AID FITTING

Once the patient selects the most appropriate hearing aid for their needs, a fitting appointment is scheduled. At this appointment, the hearing aid is calibrated and adjusted to match the patient's hearing loss and personal preferences. Care and maintenance are thoroughly discussed with the patient and friends or family
